I’m Back!

20130506-063254.jpg Hello good people! It has been a looonnnggg time! As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I was crazy enough to participate in two craft fairs simultaneously on May 4th (this past Saturday). And while that decision has run me ragged for the past two weeks, it was definitely worth it! I knew that I would not be able to prepare for two shows, keep up with my Etsy shop, and successfully blog all at the same time; so unfortunately the blog drew the short straw and was neglected for a bit.

As mentioned earlier, Momma Lex and Sister Sam agreed to host a booth for me at the Serra Mesa Spring Craft Fair and Sister Andi and I ran another booth at The Queen Bee Market. And while sales at the SMSCF weren’t quite what I had hoped for, our sales at QBM were fabulous! It was such an amazing experience to be around other women who are just as passionate about their art form as I am. Each booth there was literally cuter than the one before. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to walk around and see every booth, but the ones that I did see were phenomenal! I’ll share more on the whole QBM experience later on this week.

I would like to give a huge shout out to my amazing family who helped make Saturday a success. This process has brought me to the realization that I am not Super Woman and I was definitely grateful for the assistance of Husband, Momma Lex, Daddy Lex, Sister Sam, Sister Andi, and Brother Vince…

but not Puppy! His cuteness levels stopped production several times…

The next Queen Bee Market will be a two-day event held at the QLN Conference Center in Oceanside, California on November 1st -2nd, 2013. I am already highly anticipating November and have loads of hoop designs floating around in my little head! And currently, it looks like the next fair for Lefty Lex Creations will be the San Diego Indie Craft Market on June 23rd. Time to get busy already; there’s never a dull moment around here! Am I crazy? Yah, I think so. Happy Monday everyone!

RWL: Lace

About a month or so ago a senior neighbor of mine moved away and into an assisted living community. This woman learned how to sew at age 30 and had slowly become quite the seamstress over the past 50+ years. The result of this was an absolutely enormous stash of fabric! If you are or have ever been a quilter, then you know exactly how fast your stash can grow; now imagine how large this would be after decades of “scraps”! So during her last week as my neighbor she called me over to her house and said: dear, I have a few scraps of fabric I want to give you. “A few scraps of fabric” was, in actuality, four trash bags busting at the seams as well as a few specialty pieces from Japan that were carefully preserved separately!

Thank God that I have a giant attic and lots of crafty friends or else I have no idea what I would have done with all of that fabric! This weekend, I finally cracked open one bag and stumbled upon some lovely yardage of vintage lace. It made me realize that I know little to nothing about working with lace so I began searching for lace items on Etsy to see what others do with it. I was quite taken by all of the lace pieces I found, henceforth we have a lace inspired Rainbow Wish List this week. Enjoy!

Navy blue lace embroidered floral tulle net trim 2 yards BL085 Bridesmaid jewelry, Purple Blue lace bracelet in antique bronze, bridal bracelet

Voila! Aren’t they just lovely? And isn’t that little chubster in the yellow outfit just to die for? So many rolls!

Now let’s see what becomes of my lace yardage. Have a wonderful Tuesday, everyone!

Weekend Wrap-Up: 4/13-4/14

Double fair weekend preparation number two! This weekend was, of course, filled with will several trips to Joann and Michael’s as I attempted to restock all of my used up floss and to clear San Diego County out of all wooden embroidery hoops available. I would like to take this moment and platform to bring up a grievance that I have regarding what people call the store shown below. This fine chain of stores is called Joann Fabrics and Crafts; the acceptable shortened version of this being Joann. But nearly every single individual on the face of the planet calls it Joann’sThere is no “s” and it is not possessive, it’s not referring to the fabrics and crafts of dear Joann! It is just Joann (Fabrics and Crafts). Got it? Good! Thank you for letting me vent.

20130415-055653.jpg

My primary shopping goal for the weekend was to gather the items needed for my Queen Bee Market display. That meaning that I needed many, many crates… to build a barricade! Yes, I felt very Les Miserables (and a tad bit Miss Saigon; however only extreme theatre geeks will get that reference). In total I was able to use several coupons and buy six crates at a fabulously discounted rate. What other store sends you 40-60% off coupons nearly weekly? None! I made the most of those coupons by using them on the $12 crates, woohoo!

20130415-055658.jpg

As you can imagine, the rest of the weekend was spent sitting on my booty doing lots and lots of stitching. Oh, and sewing! I did actually use my machine quite a bit, just so that it knows that I still love it.

20130415-055715.jpg

20130415-055720.jpg 20130415-055725.jpg

Sunday, as always, began with worship. We even witnessed the ordination of new elders and deacons.

20130415-055748.jpg 20130415-055752.jpg

Post worship, we headed to a nearby “health” store. I use the quotations because there is plenty of unhealthy crap that can be found here and I find that people think that everything found in stores like Sprouts and Trader Joe’s is healthy. Um, it’s not. Their food is generally a better alternative to the garbage found at most nation-wide chains, but you still have to look closely at what exactly your purchasing. Husband and I don’t eat any processed foods, dairy, sugar, or grains so there you go. I do, however, eat loads of almonds! Like an embarrassing amount; I’ll level with you and say that I can easily finish off 1.5 pounds by myself in a week. Nothing is more yummy than roasted, unsalted almonds. Yum yum!

20130415-055743.jpg

And you’ll never guess what I found there… a barricade of crates! They were following me!

20130415-055737.jpg

And to further bore you with the mundane details of my chores, we had to buy more food for Jackie cat! He too is on a strictly protein and fruit & veggie diet. But for some reason, this particular type of Ideal Balance Science Diet did contain brown rice. Oh well!

20130415-055810.jpg

And is it not the worst thing in the world to see caged shelter dogs right in front of a pet store entrance?! I hate this because it makes me want to take them all home with me, only I have absolutely no space for any of them! Lord help me if I lived on a ranch!

20130415-055804.jpg 20130415-055757.jpg

Brownie baking (http://jenniskitchen.com/2012/01/23/grain-free-brownies/), stitching, and quality time with Husband consumed the remainder of the day.Oh, as well as my complete love with the color pallet below! I first came across this pallet here: http://laybabylay.com/quilt-giveaway-candy-apple-delight/ while playing on Pinterest one day. It was pretty much love at first sight! And the funny thing was that Husband actually like it too.

20130415-061002.jpg

And I could not resist adding the Les Mis felties to the barricade for one final shot! Happy Monday, everyone!

Indie Lovely is Here!

Indie Lovely is Here!

If you have never read a digital magazine before, might I suggest to you fabulous Indie Lovely Spring 2013 by the fabulous Anne!

IndieLovelyMag2013

I had the pleasure of (virtually) meeting Anne while taking an e-course called Fresh Start given by the equally fabulous Kari Chapin; author of The Handmade Marketplace; which is a must read for anyone interested in breaking into the handmade world. (Click on either image to take you to these women’s wonderful work).

Anyhow, Anne is an amazing indie lifestylist who can literally do no wrong in my book. The woman is a genius (yes, genius) with graphic design and is not half bad with a crochet hook, among her many other talents. Anne is very active within the Detroit handmade community and is continually posting events and other ongoings happening throughout Detroit and the surrounding areas that truly make me want to become a Midwest girl!

Please give Indie Lovely a look, I think that you might enjoy page 12 in particular… I do! And while you’re at it, take a look at Anne’s other wonderfulness. She can also be found here:

RWL: Polka Dots

I have absolutely no idea why polkadots was the first thing that came to mind for this week’s Rainbow Wish List. Actually, when I stop and think of it, I do have two polka dot dresses, two skirts, and even a polka dot swimsuit. So those tiny little circles must have subconsciously willed themselves to be this week’s theme. Sneaky little devils! Okay ladies and gents, here we go…

Panda Doll Handmade Plush Cushion - Jia Jia from Singapore60s Catalina Gray Red Orange PolkaDot Retro Pin up Rockabilly One Piece Swimsuit Bathing Suit . XXS . XS . D073 . No.196.3.28.13 Maggie Mae. mustard yellow and white polkadot bow Fitted Baby shoes in a Green Polkadot by Scarlettos for Etsy

Washi Tape - White on Blue Polkadot - 15mm x 10m - TP226  Navy and White Polka Dot Infinity Scarf

Eyeglass / Sunglasses Case - Purple Polkadot

Red: This is honestly the thing I want most from Etsy at the moment. Yes, this tiny little panda bear plushie. I am currently obsessed with the name Jia so I was pleasantly surprised to find this cute little panda donning that very name.

Orange: I absolutely adore this swimsuit! I only believe in wearing one-piece suits and love vintage style suits; add in some polka dots and you’ve got yourself a Lefty Lex approved piece! I might have to force myself to go to the beach this summer if I were to buy this little number.

Yellow: Every since buying my lovely Betty Bow (http://www.etsy.com/shop/hellobettybow) I have become obsessed with these gianormous hair accessories. This particular bow is lovely because it’s crisp, nicely pleated, and (of course) my favorite color. I know that this is meant to wear as a hair clip, but I would also like to see it affixed to Ellie’s dog collar; that pop of color on her black and white coat would be wonderful!

Green: Are these not the cutest little shoes?! Of course, I have no use for tiny little baby shoes, so I’m not 100% sure why I included them in the list but they were too cute to pass up. And that particular green is the perfect spring time shade, don’t you think?

Blue: Ah, the increasingly trendy washi tape! If you’re not familiar with Japanese washi tape, it is all the rage in crafting at the moment. It’s particularly popular for card making, scrapbooking, gift wrapping, and many forms of decor. It also doesn’t ruin items the way traditional tape would. And this tape looks exactly like a blue and white polka dot dress that I have, which is probably why I gravitated towards it!

Indigo: A day rarely goes buy when I am not wearing some form of a scarf/cowl around my neck. (I know that I live in SoCal, but I get cold really easily.) Needless to say, I am a giant fan of this little polka dot infinity scarf; great shade, great length. Just look at how it magically turns a plain white shirt into a complete outfit. Magic.

Violet: I seriously need a glasses case like this! Although, I’m positive that I could sew one for myself. I tend to use giant purses and always feel like I’m going on a treasure hunt every time I try to find my sunglasses in said giant purses! Not to mention the fact that not housing them in a case would prevent them from getting scratched up… and then maybe I wouldn’t lose my glasses so easily.

Well, there is your polka dot fix. Hope you enjoyed it. Now to sneak in just one more…

Weekend Wrap-Up: 4/6-4/7

I apologize for the delay in this post and I’ll also apologize in advance for even sharing the details of the most boring weekend ever with you! On Thursday an old college friend of mine told me that she heard about a craft fair at her church that was looking for vendors. Yay! Another fair, fabulous! All the details sounded lovely (particularly the $35 booth fee which is far, far less than most). I was getting very excited as I read all the information about the fair until I reached one key line, the date: May 4th… the same exact date and time as the Queen Bee Market. NOOO!!! Blast! I was looking forward to doing both shows and raising more funds for our adoptions, but alas I cannot be two places at once. As I began typing out my declining response which started like this: thanks for thinking of me, but I am already committed to a fair on the same date. Hmm, maybe I could clone myself… or talk one of my sisters in to hosting a booth for me. Wait a second, that’s not a bad idea!

If you recall, I have one million sisters…

Sisters1

…well, not quite one million but I do have 4! And at least two of them would be willing (I think) to help me out. The babies; Sam & Andi! These two…

Sam&Andi2

Could this actually be a possibility? If two sisters were willing, and with Mom’s help of course, could I actually produce enough inventory to successfully pull off two shows? Yes, where there’s a will, there’s a way! Right, Mom?

I took the following day to make a list of each collection and items that I would ideally like to take to each fair. As the list took shape I decided that (if I buckled down and stayed driven) I could do it! I figured that I could ask Mom and Sister Sam to take the church craft fair since Mom already has one fair under her belt and Sam is extremely sociable and outgoing. I could then take Sister Andi with me to Queen Bee since she’s a good helper, but not so extroverted. I called all 3 the following day and to my happiness, they agreed! Hooray! Needless to say, I am now very, very busy and spent my weekend doing nothing but creating hoop art!

I only stepped out of the house to teach my aerobics class, take my mother-in-law to lunch for her birthday, mosey quickly through an art market, and go to church.

20130409-075442.jpg

Outside of that, this chick was sitting in a chair with a hoop and floss! With Husband at work on Saturday afternoon and night, I decided to have a stitching and Disney cartoon marathon. I wanted to see exactly how many hoops and flicks I could get through within an 8 hour period. I actually quite enjoyed this stitch-a-thon.

20130409-075421.jpg

This was the result… Mulan:

20130409-075425.jpg

This was followed by Mulan 2 during which I made dinner, ate, and took a 30 minute power nap.

Ratatouille:

20130409-075430.jpg

The Princess and the Frog:

20130409-075435.jpg

Then came the giant clean-up. You’d be amazed at just how many places tiny little pieces of floss can find themselves! I apologize for all of these mundane details and for even having the nerve to blog about this most uneventful weekend, but I also didn’t want you to think that I fell of the face of the planet. Toodles and stitch on!

RWL: China

Ni Hao everyone! International adoption still extremely heavy on the brain over here, so I thought that we should have a Chinese themed Rainbow Wish List this week.. geared towards designing a Chinese inspired nursery. Hmm…

Chinese Zodiac Year of the Dragon Kids and Baby Wall Art Poster Print Hell Money Chinese Print Origami Lantern Chinese Nursery Rhyme Little White Rabbit, 8 X 10, Yellow  Handmade traditional Chinese baby slippers/Green Personalized Birth Year Baby Block-2012 Year of the Dragon Baby or Lap Quilt in 'Good Fortune' fabrics Asian themed prints in fans, bamboo, dragonfly, floral in bright purple teal orange green blueBeijing Skyline Art - China City Skyline Series Poster - Choose Your Color - Beijing China

Red: Year of the Dragon print; I can’t decide whether I like this particular print or frame more. Either way, it’s a super cute print commemorating 2012 as year of the dragon. It’s simple, playful, and perfectly suited for a Asian-inspired nusery.

Orange: This is an amazing origami (Japanese, I know) lantern made of Chinese Hell Money. It’s amazing! I like that the color is energetic but not overpowering and the texture adds tons of spunk (and spike!). And best of all, it is actually a light! Simply fabulous.

Yellow: First off, I loved every single print from this artist’s shop. That being said, I chose this particular print because I love that particular shade of yellow! Come on, you know that I’m a yellow kind of girl. The Chinese characters beneath the bunny images are actually the poem of the Little White Rabbit. I’d never heard of this particular poem, but if you check out her Etsy shop (by clicking on the photo), you’ll be able to read it.

Green: Are these not the cutest little shoes? I’ve made several pairs of baby booties in my day so I can appreciate the pain that the designer underwent to make this lovely little pair. The embellishments on the sides are really what kill me! That is a lot of tiny beads to have sewn on those tiny shoes. Patience!

Blue: And we’re back to Year of the Dragon… block edition this time. This has to be one of those toys that gets put on the dresser and not in the toy box; the details are design are just too cute to ruin with slobber! I love the pastels used and the almost vintage look of the block. I was born in the year of the rat, so I highly doubt that my own block would look quite as cute.

Indigo: Yes, I know that I’m fudging a bit on this week’s indigo… again. But it is rather a tough color to find in its purest shade. That being said, I am diggin’ this Asian themed print quilt  and our imaginary nursery was going to be quite a chilly place if we didn’t add a blanket or some sort to the RWL. Over the past 5 years I’ve made more baby quilts than I can remember and the simple patchwork of this quilt is very reminiscent of many of them.

Violet: I absolutely adore the design of these city skyline prints! I may be biased as I do have 4 (yes, 4) of these prints in my own home. After taking a couple of trips to Europe, I wanted a visual, daily reminder of all the fun that Husband and I had at each city and then I stumbled upon Bird Ave (www.birdave.com) and subsequently purchased city prints for: Roma, Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisboa (Lisbon). Now I was a bit confused when I found this Beijing print on Etsy because it is most definitely the same designer as my prints are, but the seller is different and Bird Ave no longer sells on Etsy, they only do direct orders through their website. Hmm, very interesting….

And there we have it folk, the initial makings of a cozy little Chinese-inspired nursery! You like?

Weekend Wrap-Up: 3/30-3/31

I hope you all had a very lovely Easter weekend.

I woke up at about 6AM on Saturday morning to the adorable (note the sarcasm) meow of Jack. God only knows what this cat wanted other than to ruin my sleep on the only day out of the week that I can actually sleep in until 8AM. Blasted little beast! I figured that since I was awake I might as well work on completing and packaging a few orders before I headed out to the YMCA to teach my aerobics class.

Here’s a snapshot of a 5-piece set that commissioned for a Dr. Suess themed nursery. This was my second commissioned order of the week which I think is pretty cool because commissioned pieces always seem to push you out of your regular little comfort box and allow (or force) you to create something you never would have otherwise. I rather like the finished product! (If you have a particular design or theme you’d like to have stitched, drop me a line and I’m sure that I can work something up!)

20130401-064139.jpg

And just in case you ever wondered what my YMCA looks like…voila!

20130401-064146.jpg

After I finished teaching my aerobics class I noticed that I received a text message from one of my dearest friends, Lorraine, that read: “Excited to watch A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder with you today! Hope it’s a good one.” What? Had I completely forgot that I was going to the theatre today? Apparently so! And thank God that Lorraine sent that reminder to me or I would have missed the show altogether! Now I had about an hour to drive home, shower, get dressed, and high-tail it over to the Old Globe! I was instructed by the theatre to pick-up my tickets at Will Call no less than an hour before the show began so I was under an extremely tight time crunch.

By the grace of God I was able to find parking easily! This absolutely never happens during the spring and summer months as the Old Globe is located in Balboa Park which is one of San Diego’s most visited tourist hot spots. Isn’t it lovely though? This has been my favorite place in all of San Diego since I was a little girl; it gives you the feeling that you’ve just been transported to Europe (with the luxury of SoCal weather!).

20130401-064159.jpg 20130401-064203.jpg

Once I picked up my tickets (early as instructed) I now had an hour to kill before the performance itself began. I decided to take a leisurely stroll through the Mingei International Museum gift shop. I love this gift shop because it shows that literally each culture that roams this big blue planet creates beautiful and unique art of its own. And I love the quote that appears immediately outside of the shop: Art Belongs to Everyone.

20130401-064228.jpg 20130401-064235.jpg 20130401-064240.jpg

Once my hour to kill had expired, I met Lorraine and her lovely husband Ed for the performance. I was the third wheel at the particular event. Husband had work to do so he was not able to join us (boo!). I believe that this was the fifth theatrical performance that I had seen with E&L. We tend to be theatre junkies together; it’s always better with partner’s in crime! And fittingly enough, we were about to watch A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.

20130401-064208.jpg 20130401-064245.jpg 20130401-064256.jpg

The set was enchanting, the story engaging, the music inviting, and the performers divine! I had no knowledge of what the musical was going to be about, thus I had no expectations; however it was fabulous! One of the cast members, played a total of eight characters! He was genius, I absolutely adored him! I will not give away any of the details of the play other than it includes love and murder. Go see it!

Once the performance was over I headed home and the most wonderful news awaiting me in my email inbox…. I was selected as a vendor for the next Queen Bee Market! Woohoo! I was so, so, so excited to read “you have been accepted!!”. It felt like my senior year of high school all over again, just waiting to see if I had been selected to by my college of choice. Well, maybe not that exciting, but pretty exciting none the less. I immediately began doing the happy dance in my living room, giving Husband about one million excited hugs, and made a prompt call to Mom to let her know that her assistance would be much required for the next several weeks. How anyone can participate in a craft fair without the assistance of his/her mother is entirely beyond me. I would have died a terrible death at my last fair if it were not for my Mom! Seriously.

The rest of my day was spent taking inventory of my finished products and drafting up lists of things that need to be finished between now and the May 4th fair. It’s going to be a busy few weeks over here in Lefty Lex land! But a fun busy few weeks. I love this stuff! For more information on Queen Bee Market, click here: http://thequeenbeemarket.com/

Sunday was Easter, in case you didn’t know. So after church was over we headed over to my parents’ house for some good ole family fun. By the time I got there Sister Jeri had already left as she had to work, but being able to spend time with 4 out of my 5 siblings wasn’t too shabby. Now, you may find this funny (or ridiculous) but I think it’s awesome… Mom still makes all 6 of us Easter baskets every year! Yes, I am 29 and I still get an Easter basket! Actually, she makes 7 baskets, because Husband gets one too.

20130401-064315.jpg 20130401-064345.jpg 20130401-064352.jpg

This year the highlight of the baskets were bottles of Middle Sister wine that accurately reflected each sister’s personality. They were as follows:

Mine: Goodie Two-Shoes. I found this funny that even my own mother would identify me as a goodie two-shoes. I am not an angel (well, not entirely) but of the five of us girls I am definitely the one who has most played by the rules my entire life and never really fought against my parents growing up. Let’s say this much: I attended a private Christian college immediately after high school, graduated four years later, was married seven weeks prior to graduation, subsequently went to grad school, etc., etc. I’m rather a homebody, I don’t really drink…I suppose you would call me goodie two-shoes!

Dee: Rebel Red. I found this one debateable I’m not quite sure that I would lable Dee a “rebel”. At this stage in her life she’s more along the lines of a free spirit. She’s just enjoying life according to herself. She’s definitely changed a bit over this past year, so perhaps that’s where the rebel is coming from.

Jeri: Forever Cool. Jeri is a musician; so by default she’s cool. This chick kills it on the electric guitar, how is that not cool?

Sam: Wild One. Well selected, Mom. Sam was definitely the devil to my angel growing up and we bumped heads like mad! I’m seven years older than Sam and we did not have a good relationship when we lived under the same roof, but we have become very close over the past two or three years. She is the only sister that I actually have 4 hour long FaceTime conversations with. Yes, out longest conversation was 4.5 hours!

Andi: Sweet & Sassy. Andi is definitely the quietest of the five of us and can definitely lost in the shuffle at times as a result of this. She’s our baby girl so, of course, she’s sweet but I’ve been told that she can have a bit of sass when it comes down to it. I don’t think I’ve seen that side of her, but the others have told me that it does exist.

20130401-064328.jpg (Mom was getting so mad that we would not take a serious picture!)

And we must not forget my brothers… Vince and puppy Bosco!

20130401-064424.jpg 20130401-064407.jpg

Hope your weekend was lovely too. That is all good people, go forth and conquer Monday!

STUCK

Okay, the day for soapboxing has finally arrived. There is a documentary currently on tour throughout the US called Stuck. To recap Stuck in the simplest way possible: it is a documentary about the need for reform of the current international adoption process. I use the word reform here loosely; it needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt from the ground up!

STUCK

According to the information presented, the average international adoption will cost $28,000.00 and take 3 years! THREE YEARS! Three years for waiting children! This isn’t waiting on a private domestic adoption list for 3 years as birth mother to carefully and methodically browse through thousands of potential adoptive parent profiles in a last effort to supply her unborn child with the best family possible. No, this is three years of waiting for a child who is already waiting! Does this make sense to any of you? Me neither!

I did not want to be the that girl how shares too much too soon in her blogging career, but I have no choice (and I’ve sort of already spilled the beans on my Etsy shop). Husband and I will build our family through adoption. We feel that this is God’s plan for us. (At this time I will not go into the details of why we can’t have biological kids). I share this only to explain why I was so impacted by the film.

We’ve known for about two and a half years that we would adopt. After doing extensive research, reviewing our finances, and discussing our desires in great length we decided that we would adopt through the the County of San Diego; basically adopt through the foster care system. We were interested in adopting an already waiting child or a sibling set. So, this past summer Husband and I spent 3 hours twice a week for 6 weeks taking the required parenting classes through the County. Isn’t it funny that any 15 year old on the street can become a parent without government involvement, but here we were a married couple of 6 years (at that time), home owners, college graduates, responsible citizens in our late 20s and early 30s; and there we were learning how to become parents. Oh, the ironies of life!

By the end of our 6 weeks I felt uneasy. I wasn’t against the idea, but something just didn’t set right with me. Over the next 3 months, that uneasy feeling kept growing. I finally told Husband that I wasn’t sure that I was cut out for the foster-to-adopt route and that I was beginning to lean towards a private adoption. This, of course, would mean increasing the cost of our adoption tremendously but some times you have to do what you have to do. We both have a strong desire to become parents and this looked like the route that we would go. And our baby would be born in the USA, I had no desire whatsoever to adopt internationally…. until I heard about Stuck! I don’t think that I have ever been as immediately impacted by anything in under 2 minutes as I was when I watched the Stuck trailer (below). Right then and there I had a change of heart and felt something stir in my soul.

I then became obsessed with researching as much information on international adoption as I possibly could. I knew that I would need to be well informed before presenting this radical change to Husband (and our families). I felt as though I was being drawn to China and after watching many, many documentaries on China’s one-child policy and the affects of heavy coal pollution (which causes many diseases and deformities) I was sure that China was the country for us. My web-browsing also led me to an organization called Love Without Boundaries (http://www.lwbcommunity.org/) where I fell even more in love with the orphans of China. I plan on engaging in an embroidery fundraiser for LWB in the very near future, so stay posted.

The Stuck tour reaches San Diego today and I am proud to say that we will be attending the screening along with several of our family members and a few friends. This is an exciting time, a nervous time, and a time for us to seek exactly what God’s will is for us as we attempt to build our family. I encourage you to visit the Stuck website (https://bothendsburning.org/) and to PLEASE sign the petition; it literally takes 30 seconds to do so! And, if you’re able to, please attend the screening today in San Diego or download it from the website. Prayers for these children are greatly needed!
